Emma's birth day was scheduled for Friday, March 11. We had a snow storm on Thursday the 10th so it looked like a winter wonderland outside as we drove to the hospital. We were all so excited that her birth day was finally here.
Everything with Emma's birth was just like we remembered from Ellie and Ryan's births until the doctor was ready to take her out. Emma was in the wrong position and would not budge. It was scary for a few minutes as they kept trying different ways to deliver her without success. Finally, on the third attempt with the vacuum, she was born. She didn't cry right away, but once they got her to the warmer she was crying well and her color improved.
Once we saw her, we could tell why it was hard for them to deliver her. She was the same weight as Ryan at 8 lbs. 1 oz., but she was in the 99th percentile for both length and head circumference. We were also surprised to see how much beautiful brown hair she had.
Because her head was bruised during her birth, she had extra checks throughout her first day. Luckily she did really well and she was able to stay with us instead of going to the nursery.
With the Covid restrictions, we could only have one visitor at the hospital. Grandma got to meet Emma on her birth day and we FaceTimed with Ellie, Ryan, Noni and Papa.
